Throwing A Celebrity-Inspired Party
Everyone has been to a party they would describe as a sloe gin fizz rather than a bubby glass of champagne. Getting together with friends can easily become routine, and, before you know it, you might find your social life has lost its excitement. The next time it’s your turn to host a get-together, shake things up by celebrating like the experts do. Celebrities from P. Diddy to Kim Kardashian host and attend fabulous parties you can recreate affordably and easily. Modeling your next bash after a celebrity event will certainly make it a brilliant evening your guests will enjoy and remember.
One of the simplest ways to design a visually striking party is to use an achromatic color palette. Take your inspiration from P. Diddy and Ashton Kutcher’s White Party, which benefitted Malaria No More. Everything, including the furniture and the guests’ outfits, was white. To adapt the White Party for your next get-together, start, as Diddy and Kutcher did, with an outdoor location that eliminates colorful distractions. Though their White Party was held during the day, an evening party will increase the impact of your white décor, stretching your budget. Begin by hanging an inexpensive string of globe lights across your yard. If you do not already own outdoor furniture, consider buying an affordable white table and matching chairs. Use white fabric tablecloths to complement your theme and add basic white pillows and throws to chairs. These accessories will inexpensively create the same luxurious vibe the plush leather couches the Diddy/Kutcher White Party conveyed. Extend a sense of luxury and reduce your bar bill by focusing on a few signature cocktails, like White Russians, White Angel Kisses, and Snowballs. Finally, ensure your party’s achromatic color scheme has the maximum impact by wearing white and requesting that, in a spirit of fun and camaraderie, your friends do the same. In all-white apparel, guests will transform your empty staging area into a vibrant and memorable celebration.
If you want to move the party inside, consider throwing your own Las Vegas-themed New Year’s party. Many celebrities, including Kim Kardashian and Fergie, rang in 2012 while partying at Vegas’ posh nightclubs and casinos. Throw your own equally fabulous but far more affordable Vegas-style New Year’s bash by inviting friends over for casino games, like blackjack and poker. Make sure you have plenty of champagne or sparkling wine and consider adding Blackjack cocktails to the menu. After you’ve enjoyed your private casino, take a taxi to a favorite restaurant, bar or nightclub to welcome the new year. If reservations are accepted at your destination or by your taxi company, be sure to make them well in advance so you and your guests are not figuratively or literally left out in the cold. Remember that your apparel sets the party’s tone; show off a sequined dress with crystal-encrusted heels or a nice suit and encourage your guests to do the same. Wearing your most fashionable clothes will help you and your friends enjoy a unique and glamorous night.
With a bit of planning, you can throw an elegant, celebrity-inspired party on a small budget. Recreating the stars’ dazzling social events is an exciting way to entertain your friends and refresh your social life. Whether you choose to host an elaborate outdoor party or create an indoor casino, your guests will be sure to raise a glass to your successful event.
