Flats, Heels or Boots: The Ultimate Footwear Question

It’s the ultimate question in footwear- should you wear flats, heels or boots? Many things factor into this equation, including if you need the shoes for a particular occasion, you are concerned about comfort, seasonal changes and, of course, style. Firstly, if you suffer from back or knee problems, you should consider wearing a shoe that is highly based around comfort and support. If you’re more concerned about fashion and style, however, here are some reasons (and excuses) why you need to buy more shoes!

Flat Shoes

In years past, flat shoes were commonly only worn on casual occasions or at home. In more recent times, however, designers have created a whole new era of footwear, transforming basic flats into beautiful fashion masterpieces. It is not uncommon to see women wearing flats of an evening or evening brides choosing to wear flats on their big day. While it is now a known fact that heels can cause various health issues, many women choose to wear flats for comfort, often assuming that these are much better for your body than heels. In reality, however, flats also have their own set of disadvantages. The most common problem that arises from wearing flats is foot, leg and back pain. While ballet flats and thongs may feel more comfortable, the arches of your feet are not getting the support they need, which will often lead to pain and discomfort.

Heels and Stilettoes

All types of high heels offer similar benefits, which keep millions of woman returning for more, including added height, better posture, sexier curves and making your legs appear longer. Fashion conscious women often choose to wear heels, replicating the style queens of the big screen. When attending any kind of formal event, women often feel that high heels are better suited to the occasion, rather than a pair of flats.

While there are a number of great and aesthetically pleasing advantages to wearing high heels, you should also be aware of the risks you may be taking. Putting on your favourite pair of heels for the occasional night out isn’t likely to cause you great health risks, but donning heels everyday can often have long term side effects. The most common complaint from women wearing heels is leg and back pain. Frequently stretching your muscles and tendons in an unnatural way, whilst apply the weight of your body, can lead to severe health problems. Try saving your heels for special occasions and splurge on a new pair to make the night extra special!

Boots

Boots are often a girl’s best friend in winter. Forget the strappy heels or the open toed flats, put on your boots to stay cosy this cold season. The main advantage of wearing boots is to create warmth. Boots come in both flat and heel styles, so your advantages and disadvantages will be highly dependent upon the style you choose.
